Mighty Fine Raw Goat Milk Soap
Small batch cold process goat milk soap, kitchen crafted from our ragtag trippe of hand-milked dairy goats. Scented with essential oils only - no chemical fragrances, ever.
Unlike hot process producers, we gently heat the oils only as warm as they need to be in order to combine with the lye and milk fat to begin the saponification process. This ensures that beneficial nutrients aren't baked out of the soap during manufacture.
All ingredients must be at the proper temperature. Otherwise the milk can scald and saponification happen too quickly.
Exact timing is needed for pouring the mixture. The soap needs to "trace" before it can be poured. The leveling process is manually accomplished.
Only after several weeks of curing are the bars ready to be trimmed and labeled.
Cured bars are then hand labeled and racked or placed in storage to further cure while awaiting sale.
Finalized products sometimes go out for glamor shots before heading to a new home to become suds. We're really likin' this lichen!
